연화도/Yeonhwado

민화 <연화도>는 서민들간에 애호되었던 그림으로 연꽃은 행복, 장수, 건강, 자손번창 등

서민들의 바램을 나타낸 상징물로서 그려졌음.

예로부터 연꽃은 탁한 진흙 속에서 아름다운 꽃을피워 군자의 꽃이라 하였으며

연꽃을 한 송이만 그릴 때는 청렴결백을 나타내지만 여러 송이를 그리는 것은 번창을 나타냄.

Yeonhwado is a folk painting of lotus flowers loved by ordinary people.

The lotus flowers were the symbols that stand for the commoner's wish of happiness, long life,

health and prosperity of their descendants.

Since ancient times, the lotus flower has been called "the flower of true gentleman", because

it blooms beautifully in the mud.
