갖은 풍파에 얽매이지 않는 군자의 모습을 닮은 연꽃

표암 강세황의 연꽃 그림 <향원익청>에 깊은

영감을 받고 각색하여 작업하였다

청정, 순결한 의미의 연꽃은 비록 평생을 진흙물

속에서 살지만 깨끗하고 향기로움이 가득한 큰 꽃을 피우며

세속의 갖은 풍파에 얽매이지 않고 초연한 풍모를 지녀

예로부터 군자로 상징되기도 하였다

Hyangwonikchoeong by Pyoam Gang Se-hwang, an ancient artist of Korea.

Pure and chaste image of lotus, a flower which grow and live in the mud

for the entire life but is not restrained by the blast of the world,

used to be taken as a representation of noble man.

The elegant and fine figures of lotus flowers and the vivid leaves

are delivered through rhythmic lines and colors by using mother-of-pearl pieces.
